Sharing the Good News with a Lost World

In the book of 2 Peter, we are told that “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9). This verse highlights God’s great love and desire for all people to turn to him and be saved. However, despite God’s patience and desire for all to repent, many people still end up perishing and becoming lost.

So why is this the case? One reason is that many people have not heard the message of salvation through Jesus. In Romans 10:13, Paul tells us that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on someone they have not believed in or heard about? This is where the role of evangelism, or sharing the good news, comes in. We are called to share the message of salvation with others and to be ambassadors for Christ.

In Romans 10:14-15, Paul asks, “And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news”. So, as believers, let us not be ashamed to share the good news with our neighbors and friends. Instead, let us embrace the opportunity to be ambassadors for Christ and to help lead others to salvation. As Paul says in 2 Timothy 4:2, we are called to “preach the word in season and out of season.” 

PRAYER:“Oh my Lord and Father, how does it happen in our corrupt world that You are so great and mighty yet nobody finds You, that You call so loudly and yet nobody hears You, that You are so near and yet Nobody feels you, that you give Yourself to everybody and yet nobody knows Your name? Yet, You love the world anyway. You seek to save all men anyway. Today, I decide to be available for Your use. Use my life, my resources, my hands and mouth, my time and all I am to lead all men to You, in Jesus name. Amen!”
